SS Announces #1 Player Award

The 2011 Senior Series Best Hitter has been picked and the honor went to the Deadhorse Musk Ox hitting machine, Alexander Hopkins. He compiled a .334 batting average with 127 hits, 20 doubles, no triples and 45 home runs, along with 113 RBIs and 78 runs scored.

He received 19 first place votes out of a possible 20. Joe Tuttle of the Colorado Springs Peak finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Alex Argon of the Deadhorse Musk Ox finished third.

Jeff Walburn of the Minneapolis Millers had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Best Hitter for 2011.

The 27-year-old center fielder put up a .380 average and a .464 on-base percentage, piling up 161 hits, 25 doubles, 3 triples, 17 home runs, 79 RBIs and 89 runs scored.

He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 20. Evan McNulty of the Charlottesville Clippers finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Kevin Lounsbury of the Charlottesville Clippers finished third.

There's less room in Feliciano Berlinghieri's trophy case today after he brought home the 2011 Senior Series Best Pitcher.

The talented Spokane Chiefs star finished the year 9-8 with a 3.03 ERA. He struck out 123 in 160.1 innings while walking 44.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 20. Santiago Campa of the Deadhorse Musk Ox finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Brian Lewis of the Deadhorse Musk Ox finished third with 4 first place votes.
