Virginia-Los Angeles BC Swap: Akinsanya for Zwanenburg

Signed ... sealed ... and delivered.

Virginia has worked out terms of a deal to send 27-year-old LF Matt Akinsanya to Los Angeles BC for 18-year-old minor league RHP Bernd Zwanenburg, a 2nd round draft pick and a 4th round draft pick. Both teams expect to introduce their new players at press conferences later in the week.


Career-to-date Akinsanya has rung up a .293 average, played in 284 games and collected 47 doubles, 4 triples and 30 home runs.
New Mexico, Ann Arbor Close Deal

New Mexico and Ann Arbor have agreed in principle to a trade. The Aztecs will send 29-year-old C Eddie Contino to the Tigers for 36-year-old 2B Yale Fisher and 28-year-old minor league LHP Ben Fogle. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.


Over his career Contino is batting .283 with 76 home runs and 254 RBIs. In 491 games he has delivered 508 hits, scored 260 runs, stolen 1 bases and gotten on base at a .361 clip.

His career numbers show Fisher is hitting .302 with a total of 43 home runs.
Aztecs Swap to Apostles for Connelly

Done deal! The New Mexico Aztecs have agreed to send a 2nd round draft pick and a 4th round draft pick to the St. Paul Apostles for 22-year-old minor league RHP Jacob Connelly and a 6th round draft pick. The trade, rumored for days, was completed in the wee hours this morning.
