$10,200 Lands SS van Meurs for Alleghenies
Tuesday, November 21st, 2017
Altoona's signing of Louwe van Meurs was met with mixed reactions today as the 28-year-old shortstop was introduced to the media. Some experts consider him overpaid at $10,200 a year for 1 year, while others insist that van Meurs is a perfect fit for the Alleghenies.

His all-time numbers show van Meurs is carrying a .251 career batting average with 15 home runs and 105 RBIs.
Hazleton-Tulsa Trade: Ryan for Chacon
Monday, November 20th, 2017
You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Hazleton and Tulsa have made a swap with 30-year-old 3B Justin Ryan being shipped to the Oilers and in return the Miners would get 20-year-old minor league 3B Alex Perez, 23-year-old minor league 2B Hector Chacon and 24-year-old RHP Dustin Utter.

Hazleton general manager Steve Buffey said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.

"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."

A source inside the Hazleton organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.
